Anyone who takes a capsule every day should be able to read what is inside it. Joint Genesis puts a dose next to each active ingredient, and this page walks down the panel one line at a time. We worked from the label image on the seller’s order page.

The Supplement Facts panel

Each capsule counts as one serving, so the 30 capsules in a bottle make 30 servings. The panel reads as follows.

Active ingredientIn one capsule
Hyaluronic acid matrix: 60 to 80% hyaluronic acid, more than 5 to 15% polysaccharides, more than 5 to 20% collagen type II80 mg
Ginger, as powder from the root (Zingiber officinale)200 mg
Pine bark extract (Pinus pinaster), described as French maritime pine bark150 mg
Boswellia serrata gum resin extract, standardized to 65% boswellic acid100 mg
Black pepper fruit (Piper nigrum), standardized to 95% piperine5 mg

Beneath the panel, the remaining items are the cellulose shell, magnesium stearate and silica.

What each ingredient is for, according to the seller

Hyaluronic acid matrix

Hyaluronan is what gives synovial fluid, the liquid inside a joint, its thick and lubricating feel. The seller says joints lose it faster after age 30 and calls this matrix Mobilee. In its words, an 80 mg dose multiplies hyaluronan in the joints tenfold, and it cites 14 trials for that. Those are the seller’s statements, not our findings. The matrix is animal-derived, with collagen type II in the mix.

Pine bark extract

The seller describes it as a strong antioxidant that distributes into the synovial fluid. The label gives only the botanical name and the words French maritime pine bark.

Ginger and boswellia

Both are described as support for a healthy inflammatory response and for joint comfort. Ginger sits at 200 mg, the largest dose on the panel. Boswellia is standardized to 65% boswellic acid.

Black pepper extract

The five milligrams of piperine-standardized pepper, which the seller calls BioPerine, are there to help the body absorb the rest of the capsule.

The research behind the ingredients

The seller lists research for its ingredients, and we checked four of the references on PubMed. They are studies about the ingredients, not about Joint Genesis itself, and we describe each only by what its title says.

  • A 2016 review in Nutrition Journal on oral hyaluronan and knee pain.
  • A 2015 meta-analysis of randomized, placebo-controlled trials on ginger in people with osteoarthritis.
  • A 2020 systematic review and meta-analysis on Boswellia extract and osteoarthritis.
  • A 2017 paper on how maritime pine bark extract and its metabolites reach serum, blood cells and synovial fluid.

Reading titles is not the same as knowing how a finished capsule performs for you, and results vary.

What the label leaves out and what it says

The label does not name a brand for the pine bark.. The seller adds that the capsules are produced to cGMP standards in a US plant that has had an FDA inspection. It also says gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, egg, crustaceans, GMOs and BPA are left out, and it quotes a two-year shelf life.

Who should read the label twice

Ginger, boswellia and pine bark are plant ingredients that some people discuss with their doctor, especially if they take blood thinners or diabetes medicine. People avoiding animal products should check with the seller about the matrix. Our safety page covers these points in more detail.

Common questions

How many active ingredients are in Joint Genesis?

Five: ginger powder, boswellia extract, a hyaluronic acid matrix, pine bark extract and black pepper extract. Each has its own amount on the label, from 5 mg to 200 mg.

Does the label give an amount for every active?

Yes. This is a plain list with a dose beside each name, not a hidden blend. The other ingredients are the cellulose capsule, magnesium stearate and silica.

Does the label name a brand of pine bark?

No. It lists French maritime pine bark extract from Pinus pinaster and names no brand, so we do not name one either.
